A defining image of Britain’s traditional seaside resorts, Brighton’s 1,722-foot (525m) Victorian pier opened in 1899 and is one of the finest examples of a pleasure pier anywhere in the world. Nestled on the western border of Brecon Beacon National Park, plunging around 90 feet (27m), Henrhyd Falls is the highest waterfall in South Wales. Cascading into a wooded gorge and bordered by pretty woodland, the falls are one of the park’s most picturesque attractions. Known for its secluded setting, Henrhyd Falls has doubled as the famous Bat Cave in Christopher Nolan’s film The Dark Knight Rises.
Covering some 900 square miles, Lake District National Park is a must-visit destination for travelers to England. With 12 of the country’s largest lakes and more than 2,000 miles of rights of way waiting to be explored, there’s little wonder the region continues to inspire, with its magnificent views and scenery straight out of a painting. Other things to do include visiting the park’s many fells, including Scafell Pike (3,210 feet), the highest mountain in England. Be sure to also spend time exploring some of the lovely little towns and villages dotted throughout the region, such as Grasmere. Better still, hop aboard a tour boat excursion across Lake Windermere and Ullswater, and you’ll be rewarded with some of the best scenery anywhere in the country. Hyde Park is also home to major events at various stages throughout the year. In summer you’ll find the British Summer Time live concert series, featuring performances by some of the world’s biggest music artists such as Stevie Wonder and Phil Collins. Then there’s Speakers’ Corner, billed as “the most famous location in the world for free speech” where the likes of George Orwell, Karl Marx and Winston Churchill have spoken. Come Christmas there’s Winter Wonderland — the U.K.’s version of a classic European Christmas market. This one certainly doesn’t have the same magic of a quaint little town in rural Germany, as tens of thousands of visitors pour into the site every day of the festive season. If you do want a real Christmas market, this may be many more people and a lot less authentic than you’re expecting.

You basically walk straight out of arrivals and there’s a lift on your left that brings you down to Yotel. It’s half Japanese pod hotel, half spaceship! The colour theme is white and purple and the lighting is soft and muted. Free Coffee, tea and bottled water is included in the room price and can be gotten from reception 24/7. The shower head is rainfall (dream). The free wifi is great. Room service is available if you’re feeling lazy, though there are plenty of options to choose from in the terminal. The rooms are compact, but that matches the price point and there’s still plenty of room for a suitcase.
